Data Center Development
The Trust opposes a proposed rezoning that would allow data center construction on historic land adjacent to Manassas National Battlefield Park.
“The single greatest threat to Manassas National Battlefield Park in nearly three decades.”
In May 2022, Preservation Virginia designated the battlefield one of “Virginia's Most Endangered Historic Places” in response to a proposed rezoning along Pageland Lane that would permit data center construction on land directly adjacent to the park.
The Trust endorses the National Park Service Superintendent's opposition to this rezoning, and agrees with the Prince William County Archaeologist's assessment that the development would harm both the natural and historic resources of this landscape.
This is more than a local zoning dispute — it's a question of whether hallowed ground that shaped the course of American history will remain intact for the generations who haven't discovered it yet.
